Motzfeldt 2026: Advanced Targeting from Mineral Signatures

Arkadian’s 2026 Motzfeldt programme includes an innovative combination of satellite remote sensing and field-based hyperspectral imaging to improve target selection before ground work begins.

Across the licence, satellite data acquisition is planned to support the identification of prospective surface zones, including at Aries, where bulk sampling is planned to provide material for the next phase of processing testwork.

At Merino, field-based hyperspectral imaging will focus on hydrothermal structures exposed across the cliff faces, where 2025 samples showed enrichment in rare earth elements, niobium and zirconium.

The technique reads rocks in far greater detail than ordinary imagery. A standard RGB camera captures three colour channels. A hyperspectral sensor captures hundreds of narrow wavelength bands for every pixel, allowing the team to assess absorption and reflection features associated with specific mineral signatures.

For rare earth exploration, the neodymium spectral response can help indicate where rare earth-bearing minerals may be present at surface. In practice, that gives the team a more selective way to rank targets, plan sampling and build a clearer picture of mineralised structures before future drill-target assessment.

The same targeting work also feeds into the wider technical pathway: selecting more representative bulk sample material, supporting processing studies and strengthening the evidence base needed for future development planning.

Taken together, the 2026 remote sensing work is designed to move Motzfeldt from broad surface potential towards better-defined targets, stronger technical datasets and readiness for a potential future exploitation licence application.
