Independent Review in Exploration

Independent review is one of the clearest ways to build confidence in an exploration project.

It helps test interpretations, challenge assumptions and strengthen the technical basis for the next stage of work. In early-stage exploration, that matters.

At each stage, different forms of independent input play a role. Accredited external laboratories provide objective analysis using established QA/QC procedures. As projects advance, independent competent persons can assess and report Code-compliant resources, typically under JORC or NI 43-101, once sufficient drilling and supporting datasets are in place.

Academic collaboration adds another valuable layer. It brings specialist methods, broader geological context and external scrutiny. It can also lead to peer-reviewed research that tests whether a working geological model stands up beyond the company itself.

At Alba, this independent input includes external laboratories, consultants and academic partners, including the University of St Andrews. At Motzfeldt, recent work has included drone photogrammetry, radiometric surveying, assay sampling, and mineralogical and metallurgical testwork, alongside peer-reviewed research led by Dr Curtis Rooks that supports the project’s geological model.

Independent review helps reduce over-reliance on any single dataset, strengthens geological understanding, and supports better technical decisions over time.
